If Çiya Sofrası is Istanbul's best stew restaurant, Çiya Kebap is its best kebap restaurant. The regional recipes are genuinely different from the standard Adana and Urfa you find everywhere. The lamb şiş was outstanding.

Went to Çiya Sofrası first, then crossed the street for kebap. Both are essential. The lahmacun here is the thinnest, crispiest I've had. Rare regional kebap preparations that you won't find anywhere else in Istanbul.

The Dağdeviren family is doing genuinely important work preserving Turkish culinary heritage. The kebap selection includes preparations from regions rarely represented in Istanbul restaurants. Queue, wait, eat — it's worth every minute.

Both Çiya restaurants are essential Istanbul stops. The kebap side had a daily special — a slow-roasted lamb from a regional recipe — that was extraordinary. Very casual setting, very serious food.

Excellent kebaps at very reasonable prices. The liver kebap in particular was expertly prepared. The whole Moda Caddesi strip around Çiya is worth an afternoon — eat at both sides.
